BIOENERGY2020+ is a K1-Competence Centre According to the guidelines of the COMET-Programme of the Austrian Federal Government and was founded as a limited liability company at the beginning of 2009. The head office of the Competence Centre is located in Graz in addition to a branch office for special research activities established in Güssing and Wieselburg. The competences cover all current relevant research and development topics in the field of biomass combustion (small, medium and large scale) and biomass based combined heat and power production (CHP) systems. Furthermore, one of the main competence areas is conversion of biomass into advanced fuels for transportation. BE2020 strives to develop applications for novel biomass resources as well as innovative conversion technologies through biological, biotechnological and thermo-chemical processes. In addition, Bioenergy focuses also on the supply chain of biomasses.
